The Community Teams Programme Specialist for the West Midlands is Kevin Heffernan.
The programme supports stakeholders to raise the profile of Community Teams and Crisis Resolution services at a strategic and commissioning level across the West Midlands.
With the support of the programme the West Midlands region should be able to express needs consistent with national policy objectives.
The National Priorities and targets supported by this programme are :-
➢ NHS Plan
➢ Policy Implementation Guides
➢ NSF for mental health
➢ Outcomes from the National CRHT survey
➢ DOH recommendations from AOR policy/practice review (October 2005)
➢ Recommendations from the NAO audit of CRHT
The direct consultancy, mentoring, training and also the facilitation of networks will support the continued development and implementation of services which reflect the national guidance and objectives
Locally derived but supported models for Community Teams and Crisis Resolution should emerge from local commissioners and service providers
Dissemination of relevant evidence based practice guidelines will be a core function of the programme
Dual Diagnosis Training is being offered for Community Teams.
